Has anyone else had issues with watching the final lecture, “Watch Me Build” and then you complete the course but that lecture continues to show as not completed? For two courses now I have watched all lectures and completed all quizzes but at the end of “Watch Me Build” it only shows “Complete” and when I do click it, it shows that I did not complete the course 100%. Any ideas?September 10, 2020 at 5:29 pm #21383The A.CRE TeamInstructor
Happy to help with this!
This is quirk of the platform. The Accelerator has two forms of grading: courses graded based on the number of lectures completed, and courses graded based on quiz score.
For courses graded based on the number of lectures completed, you must complete 100% of the lectures and quizzes in that course to “Finish” the course. For courses graded based on quiz score, you must score at least 80% on the quizzes in order to “Finish” the course – lecture completion has no bearing on whether you’re able to mark the course as finished.
Looking at your current progress, you have successfully finished (i.e. passed) 7 courses so far. The courses where your “Progress” is less than 100% are in courses where you passed all of the quizzes and then finished the course, before marking the final lecture as complete. This is completely normal, and has no bearing on whether you “finished” the course or not for purposes of progress toward your ‘Certificate of Completion’.
I think the confusion lies in what happens when you finish the final quiz in a ‘quiz-graded’ course. Once you successfully qualify to “finish” a course, an orange ‘Finish Course’ button appears. In the case of quiz-graded courses, this button appears immediately following the completion of a quiz. And so what most people do is click the ‘Finish Course’ button at that point and the system marks the course as passed.
Attached find a screenshot of a course that is ready to finish upon successfully passing a quiz. You’ll note that the button appears, even though the ‘Watch Me Build’ lecture is not marked as complete (no green check along left-hand side of image).
In the example attached, if you were to click the ‘Finish Course’ button, you would pass the course and the system would mark the course as finished. You still have access to all of the content in the course, including the Watch Me Build video. But the system no longer presents you with ‘Complete Lecture’ buttons because you’ve already finished the course.
The end result of doing what I described above is that your course “Progress” appears less than 100%. That doesn’t mean you haven’t successfully passed the course, it just means you didn’t click the ‘Complete Lecture’ button on 100% of the lectures in the course. Again, this is a quirk on courses where lecture progress has no bearing on whether you pass the course.
I should note that if you want the course to show the course as 100% progress in the attached example. Rather than clicking the ‘Finish Course’ button on the quiz screen, click the ‘NEXT’ button to proceed to the next lecture (i.e. the Watch Me Build). On that screen, you’ll find a ‘Complete Lecture’ button as well as a ‘Finish Course’ button. Click the Complete Lecture button first, then click the ‘Finish Course’ button and your progress will appear as 100%.
But again, whether your progress shows as 0% or 100% is irrelevant to quiz-graded courses.
Congrats on your progress thus far through the Accelerator! If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
