This role requires expertise in engineering systems, a thorough grasp of project management processes, and proficiency in essential skill sets such as leadership, organization, time management, communication, and client service.<\/p>\n<h2>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate expert understanding of Construction Drawings and Documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to define project scope and determine optimal delivery methods.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in preparation of early project budgets and capital improvement projections.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare bi-weekly and as-needed construction updates for ownership.<\/li>\n<li>Manage and develop Assistant Construction Managers as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Direct activities of architects\/engineers in the development of preconstruction drawings and construction administration activities.<\/li>\n<li>Review working drawings ensuring compliance with Hines and Ownership Standards and basis of design.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and monitor cost estimates, budget updates, change order reports as requested by the client.<\/li>\n<li>Develop bid packages and procure proposals in adherence to Hines and client\u2019s policies.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and review contractors&#8217; work as it relates to budget, schedule, and owner\u2019s program. Coordinate and facilitate general construction activities.<\/li>\n<li>Forecast costs for upcoming project activities, manage RFIs, submittals, schedules, budgets, and scopes through project management software.<\/li>\n<li>Administer change order procedures and contractor progress payments.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain and monitor the progress of punch lists.<\/li>\n<li>Control project documentation and historical data regarding construction.<\/li>\n<li>Assist Owner in space planning, budget preparation, material selection, cost estimating, construction contracts and cost monitoring.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage a safe working environment and reviews of all required OSHA and Worker&#8217;s Compensation safety and accident reports with the General Contractor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Minimum Requirements include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree, preferably in construction science, engineering, or related field.<br \/>\nFive years of general contractor or construction related experience with two of the years being in management role.<\/li>\n<li>Meaningful experience in planning, design and construction of integrated mechanical, electrical and control systems.<\/li>\n<li>Work within governance-intensive approval model, including project management software platforms such as PM Web.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate understanding and successful application of general construction terminology and processes.<\/li>\n<li>Read and interpret construction related manuals, research\/instructional reports, safety rules, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.<\/li>\n<li>Read and interpret detailed construction drawings and specifications and communicate findings with team.<\/li>\n<li>Negotiate and interpret the intent of contract documents and mediate disputes as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze and interpret various types of data to draw conclusions and solve problems.<\/li>\n<li>Interact with employees, visitors and contractors with poise and diplomacy.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>Compose business letters, expositions, summaries, and reports, using proper format, punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.<\/li>\n<li>Speak before an audience with confidence, using appropriate communication skills\/style.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate strong initiative.<\/li>\n<li>Establish and maintain a cooperative working atmosphere among staff and contractors.<\/li>\n<li>Exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and\/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Perform numerical and financial calculations including calculating surfaces, volumes, weights, and measures.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office software.<\/li>\n<li>Work indoors approximately 85% of the time and outdoors 15% of the time.<\/li>\n<li>Use olfactory, auditory, and visual senses to inspect buildings\/constructions sites and detect emergency alarms.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to climb up and down stairs, ride temporary construction hoists, access restrictive openings, and perform punch lists and emergency procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lift up to 25lbs.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to transfer locations and work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Though occurrences are rare, be accessible 24 hours a day in case of an emergency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/careers-hines.icims.com\/jobs\/14345\/construction-manager\/job?mobile=false&amp;width=1076&amp;height=500&amp;bga=true&amp;needsRedirect=false&amp;jan1offset=480&amp;jun1offset=480\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hines&#8217;s Career Page<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a Construction Manager of Capital Projects with Hines, you will act as the Owner\u2019s representative, managing all activities associated with infrastructure improvement projects across Manhattan and East region, while&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7459,"featured_media":41855,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"Chicago, IL","_application":"https:\/\/careers-hines.icims.com\/jobs\/14345\/construction-manager\/job?mobile=false&width=1076&height=500&bga=true&needsRedirect=false&jan1offset=480&jun1offset=480","_company_name":"Hines","_company_website":"https:\/\/www.hines.com\/","_company_tagline":"","_company_twitter":"","_company_video":"","_filled":0,"_featured":0,"_remote_position":0,"_job_salary":"$111,400 -
