Associates are primarily responsible for the following:
- Financial modeling and analysis
- Company valuation
- Conducting primary corporate and industry research
- Conducting company due diligence
- Creating presentation materials for the firm’s investors and investment committee
- Ongoing monitoring of operating and financial results of portfolio companies
- Assisting portfolio companies with developing and executing strategic growth initiatives
Specifically, Associates play an integral role in the forecasting of operating results and financial returns for new investments. Associates are expected to think with an investor’s mentality and will play a critical role in identifying key opportunities and diligence items in new investments. Associates are expected to perform detailed financial analysis and condense large amounts of data into logical, thoughtful reports. Additionally, Associates frequently interact with investors, lenders, third party advisors, senior partners of Digital Colony, and senior management of acquisition targets and portfolio companies
To qualify, the Associate candidate should possess a strong academic record and have a minimum of 18 months of investment banking, private equity or comparable experience. Previous M&A, leveraged finance and financial sponsors backgrounds are preferred. TMT or communication infrastructure experience is a plus, but not a prerequisite. The Associate position requires exceptional financial modeling proficiency, strong analytical capabilities, close attention to detail, strong presentation skills, a high level of maturity and integrity, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Further, Associates should be self-motivated, ambitious, self-confident, and humble. Due to the firm’s global mandate, Associates may be required to travel both domestically and internationally.
