We are looking for a Solar and Storage Asset Management Associate who is self-motived and thrives in a fast-paced environment and values creative problem solving, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your experience in solar and battery business management and operations across commercial and utility-scale solar, battery storage, community solar, and other innovative renewable solutions.
As an Asset Management Associate, you will be responsible for general portfolio administration of operational renewable assets in the United States and assist Asset Managers in commercial and financial obligations. This includes continuous improvement of financial and operational performance, and commercial management. You will report to the Senior Manager of Asset Management located in the United States and will collaborate across a diverse set of individuals located globally.
Key responsibilities include:
Project Due Diligence, Integration & Setup
- Review pro-forma and various documents to identify risk, provide input, and document obligations for future tracking.
- Interface with various internal & external teams to ensure a smooth transition of projects from construction to commercial operation.
Commercial Management
- Manage commercial issues in collaboration with legal; coordinate and conduct negotiations to resolve issues with counterparties.
- Review various agreements and develop strategies to improve asset performance and risk.
Financial Oversight
- Responsible for P&L management of operating energy assets including budgeting, variance analysis, and value creating strategies.
- Work with various teams to ensure revenues are received and coded appropriately.
Performance Management
- Review operational performance reports and work with O&M service provider and facility managers to optimize asset performance.
Contract Compliance & Administration
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with key project agreements, incentive programs, regulatory requirements, and other project obligations.
- Lead customer interactions regarding new system onboarding, billing questions, and system performance.
- Support the development of information sharing platforms and work management systems, including populating such systems with historical records and archiving of documents.
Building blocks for success
- 3+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry, preferably in a commercial role
- 3+ years in project management, construction management, project development, project administration, project financing, project accounting, asset management or similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or similar field is required.
- Prior history in negotiating and resolving issues through strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience developing budgets and performing financial analysis; Advanced MS Excel with working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts.
- Strong understanding of solar and prior experience monitoring & improving operational performance of assets.
- Prior history managing contracts and service providers.
- Ability to understand technical issues and read as-built plans.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract compliance and administration.
- Strong organization and project management skills with high attention to detail.
- General knowledge of business systems and processes (billing, accounting, document management, procurement, etc.).
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with high iterations and changes.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
Preferred:
- Experience in battery storage management preferred.
