NAI Robert Lynn is hiring a Retail Market Director, an entry-level or career-transition path into commercial real estate brokerage. Based at our Dallas headquarters, you will represent retail landlords, sellers, developers, and investors across leasing and investment-sale assignments, with some Tenant Representation.
Founded in 1962, NAI Robert Lynn is the 2nd largest privately owned commercial real estate brokerage in Dallas/Fort Worth per Dallas Business Journal, with 78 agents, and the largest headquartered in North Texas.
The Role
You will complete our six-month intensive training program alongside experienced retail, industrial, and office brokers, learning a defined market, building owner relationships, and progressing toward originating your own landlord and seller assignments.
What We Provide
Training that builds a career, not just a job. One of the most important things we offer. We teach you how to win your own business and, just as importantly, how to keep it: a book of business that renews, refers, and compounds.
A firm people don’t leave. Our retention rate is extremely high, and many of our brokers have spent their entire careers here. We have had the same CEO and President for over 30 years each, so the platform you join is the platform you build on.
A first-class platform behind you. Professional marketing support, funnel of leads and opportunities, established client relationships, and deal flow across our teams. You build your own business, but not alone.
Responsibilities
Prospect retail property owners, developers, investors, retailers, franchisees, and business owners in an assigned DFW territory.
Build and maintain an accurate property database of ownership, availability, tenant rosters, lease expirations, market rents, and comparable sales.
Support landlord leasing assignments: tenant research, coldcalling, marketing packages, tours, prospect feedback, LOIs, deal negotiations and activity reporting.
Assist with investment-sale and disposition work: comparable-sales analysis, broker opinions of value, buyer lists, offering materials, and transaction coordination.
Develop expertise in local retail corridors, trade areas, tenant demand, and ownership patterns.
Use technology and AI tools to research, analyze, and automate repetitive work, so more of your time goes to prospecting and clients.
Compensation
100% commission with a draw during training and into perpetuity as long as you like. Income potential is uncapped.
We will be straight with you: you will work extremely hard building a market, a database, and owner relationships. After an initial start up period income ramps up substantially and compounds as your book matures.
Ideal Candidate
You are comfortable initiating a conversation with someone who wasn’t expecting your call. The people who succeed here are:
Persuasive – the satisfaction comes from winning someone over, not just the commission.
Confident – able to sit across from an owner with decades more experience and make a recommendation without flinching.
Social – this is a relationship business, and the best brokers here are good company, with clients and with the team.
Resilient – rejection comes with the territory. They take the hit and pick the phone back up.
Direct and steady – willing to tell an owner something they don’t want to hear, without letting it get personal.
Disciplined – month 14 looks like month 4. This business only compounds for people who keep showing up.
Adaptable – firm on the recommendation, flexible on how they get there.
Persistent – the listing you win in year three started with a call in year one.
Financially motivated – uncapped earning potential only matters to someone who genuinely wants it, and will invest years of disciplined effort before the return follows.
Consistent – stacking good days into weeks, weeks into months and months into years.
Prior CRE experience is not required; candidates from sales, business ownership, finance, retail operations, hospitality, banking, or construction are encouraged to apply.
An undergraduate degree is strongly preferred but not required. A Texas real estate license must be held or obtained within 60 days of hire.
