The MII team consists of investment professionals across a diverse set of disciplines including insurance portfolio management, investment strategy, asset allocation, product pricing, asset sector oversight, derivative solutions, and trading as well as analysis of external managers. The team operates in the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Its stewardship of the general account has spanned MetLife’s 155-year history and MII plays an integral role in helping MetLife deliver on its promises to clients.
The Role:
This role is in the Global Credit and Equity (GCE) team within MII. GCE is responsible for developing investment strategies, overseeing the general account (GA) portfolio from a credit and equity perspective, and ensuring portfolios are positioned and managed in the best interest of the GA. GCE also independently monitors and identifies areas of concern as well as opportunity and advises on macro allocation. GCE works with MIM to meet MetLife’s Insurance Companies’ objectives.
The Analyst will support GCE’s Heads of Corporate Credit, Real Estate, Structured Finance and Sustainability. Key responsibilities will span across various asset sectors including public and private credit, commercial mortgage loans, agriculture loans, and real estate equity, while also getting involved with structured finance and sustainability. In this regard, they will complete analysis, make recommendations and participate in discussions supporting these sectors and various ad hoc projects. The Analyst will work with other MII associates to understand investment needs and partner with MIM to implement strategies and help manage the risk/return of the portfolio. The Analyst should be able to effectively work both in team settings and independently to complete projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with GCE asset sector heads to prepare investment analysis, engage with MIM sector teams and complete projects to develop investment strategies and provide general account oversight
- Develop collaborative and trusted relationships with GCE asset sector heads, MIM sector teams and other key business partners
- Assist with development and oversight of sector strategies and drive the alignment of MII expectation and asset management
- Support analysis of acquisitions, sales, major decisions, and potential conflicts of interest as well as credit strategies
- Manage cross-functional projects to complete relevant analysis
- Effectively manage and communicate state of sectors and markets to senior leaders in MII and MetLife
- Leverage technology to enhance productivity and general account oversight
- Partner with MIM, Legal and Global Risk Management to analyze and monitor matters including but not limited to existing exposures, market changes, new commitments, potential sales, joint venture issues, new fund proposals, workouts, valuations and on-going portfolio surveillance

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a higher education institution and actively pursuing an undergraduate degree with a strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in investments / finance / economics
- Anticipated graduation date must be between December 2024 and June 2025
- Strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, and be able to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic environment while handling multiple projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and feel comfortable interacting with management-level professionals
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for immigration sponsorship, now or at any point in the future
