Why We Blog
Why Spencer Blogs
I have two objectives for why I blog. First, I’d like to give back to the commercial real estate community. And second, I’d like to improve my own writing, teaching, and research skills.
In terms of giving back, I’ve met so many people in the 10+ years I’ve been working in real estate who’ve been willing to help me without expecting anything in return. This help has come in the form of advice, encouragement, technical training, and networking assistance. I want to do likewise. I hope that my Excel tips, free real estate models, market insights, and other industry related content will be of use to other CRE professionals who come across my blog.
On the self-improvement front, I recognize that my writing skills are sub-par, relative to where I’d like them to be. I also know that I’m not the best person to explain concepts in the most concise way. And finally, I acknowledge that my research skills could use improving. This blog provides a medium through which I can work on improving these areas of weakness. For instance, the Excel tutorial videos section is about improving my teaching skills, the interesting real estate deals section is about improving my writing, and the real estate market news section is about forcing myself to research new and/or interesting topics in the industry.
If I can help you in any way, or if you’d like to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email, Linkedin, or Twitter.
