50 First Street – Oceanwide Center

Oceanwide-50-first

50 First St, is one of two major developments being developed in what is called Oceanwide Center on the block northwest of the Mission St. and First St. intersection.  Set to become the second tallest building in San Francisco behind Salesforce Tower, which is currently under construction a block away, the 50 First Street tower will rise to 910′. The top 19 floors of the 61 story building will contain 109 condo units while 34 floors below will contain over 1 million sf of office space. At the base of the tower will be a massive six story, publicly accessible  ‘Urban Room’ that will be full of vegetation according to renderings. The building was designed by Foster + Partners and its crown and overall design appear to take on a beautiful crystalline shape. Although the project is technically not a part of the Transbay Redevelopment District, it sits a half a block away and will be a major contribution to the district.
